Medullax provides artificial intelligence-powered documentation, referral drafting, guideline navigation and educational support tools. The outputs generated by Medullax — including referral letter drafts, clinical summary drafts, guideline summaries, and educational content — are provided for documentation support and educational purposes only.

Medullax outputs do not constitute medical advice, clinical diagnosis, treatment recommendations, investigation interpretation, or a substitute for the professional judgement of a qualified clinician.

2. Clinician responsibility

All clinical decisions remain the sole responsibility of the treating clinician. You must:

• Review and edit all Medullax drafts before use in clinical practice
• Apply your own independent clinical judgement to all Medullax outputs
• Verify all information against current guidelines, local policies, and the BNF before acting
• Not rely solely on Medullax outputs when making clinical decisions affecting patient care
• Follow your professional regulatory body's standards (GMC, NMC, HCPC, etc.)
• Adhere to your employer's protocols and local NHS policies
• Seek senior advice where appropriate

3. AI limitations

You acknowledge that:

• AI models can produce inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated information
• Guideline citations may be incorrect or out of date — always verify with the original source
• Medullax is a drafting tool, not a validated clinical decision support system
• Medullax has not been clinically validated or approved as a medical device
• Drug doses, interactions, and contraindications must always be verified in the current BNF
• All drafts require clinician review and editing before use

4. Not a registered medical device

Medullax is not registered as a medical device with the MHRA or any other regulatory body. It is provided as a documentation drafting software tool to support, not replace, professional clinical work by qualified healthcare professionals.

5. No patient-identifiable data

Medullax is not designed to process, store, or transmit patient-identifiable data. You must not enter patient names, NHS numbers, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, emails, hospital numbers, full postcodes, or any other identifiers into Medullax. Use anonymised clinical descriptions only.

Clinical guidelines change regularly. Medullax guideline summaries are based on guidelines available at the time of AI training and may not reflect the most current versions. Always check NICE, SIGN, BNF, and local trust guidelines directly for the most current recommendations.

8. Referral drafts

Referral letter drafts generated by RefAI are starting points only and require clinician review and editing. They do not guarantee acceptance by a specialist service. Clinical judgement must inform all referral decisions.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable UK law, Haseeb Ullah trading as Medullax shall not be liable for any clinical outcomes, patient harm, professional consequences, or other losses arising from reliance on Medullax outputs. This includes but is not limited to missed diagnoses, delayed treatment, inappropriate referrals, or medication errors.

10. Professional indemnity

Use of Medullax does not affect your obligations under your professional indemnity insurance. You should ensure your indemnity provider is aware of any AI tools you use in clinical practice.

11. Regulatory compliance

Clinicians remain responsible for ensuring their use of AI documentation tools complies with GMC, NMC, HCPC, and other applicable regulatory guidance on the use of artificial intelligence in clinical practice.
